Spring Trends For 2014

I know it is still winter but fashion week just ended and spring is right around the corner! So here is an update on what makeup trends you should be keeping an eye out for in Spring 2014.

I used to think that following trends was ridiculous and unnecessary but I now think it is a fun way to mix it up and a great way to prevent yourself from getting bored. There are a couple makeup trends this season that can be a little difficult to wear such as bright orange lips, green eye shadow and blue eye shadow depending on your eye color. All the fashion trends displayed on the runway can be toned down and turned into very wearable every day styles.

1. Glowing Skin
Glowing skin is a great look for spring! This is the time to pull out your BB Creams and Tinted Moisturizers for light coverage and more natural looking skin. When doing face makeup you will also find illuminating powders (and liquids) to be helpful in highlighting the cheekbones, nose and forehead while using a little bit of bronzer below the cheeks.

2. Blue Eye Shadow
Models were sporting bold blue eye shadow on the runway. This color stretches all the way into the crease in a solid block of color. This could be difficult to wear if you have blue eyes but I am sure there is a way to keep it wearable.

3. White Eye Shadow and Liner
The white eye shadow and liner look could be found all over the place giving a simple fresh glow to the eyelid. One of my favorite looks had white layered over the lid with brightness brought to the inner corner of the eyes and a subtle cat eye done with white liner.

4. Soft Berry Lips
Though you normally see dark lips during fall and winter seasons it looks like the berry shades are making a comeback for spring. The berry tones we were seeing at fashion week were toned down to a very natural and believable lip color.

5. Cat Eye
While cat eyes are always chic they will definitely be in style this spring! Dust off your liquid liner in the darkest black you can find and get ready to wing it out. But don't feel that you have to stick to black eyeliner, as long as you have nice clean lines you can use any color you like.

6. Gilded Lids
Golds and metallic shades are going to be big this season! I love a good gold eye look because I feel that it can work well with all eyes. This is where you will find glitter and pigments to be super helpful for a showstopping look. But if you want a simple day look it shouldn't be too had to tone it down.

I hope these are helpful and that you can incorporate these into your everyday looks to spice up your style. If you would like to see any of these runway looks brought down to something wearable let me know in the comment section and I may be able to do a tutorial! Please comment and give me any suggestions!
My next post will appear on Wednesday and I will be uploading a new YouTube video tomorrow!

Physicians Formula, Powder Palette, Mineral Glow Pearls in Translucent Pearl | Wednesday Review

It is time for my Wednesday Review! This week I am reviewing The Physicians Formula, Powder Palette, Mineral Glow Pearls in the color Translucent Pear.

At first glance this mineral powder looks like a disco ball but I think it is actually a really great highlighter if used properly. The product claims it creates an "instantly glowing complexion," it is also hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, gluten free, paraben free and fragrance free.

When you look at the product in the packaging it looks like it is just full of glitter but it is actually finely milled and and can your skin glow. It is actually a good quality highlighter even though it is a little expensive for the drug store at around $13.00. My skin is fair so I chose Translucent Pearl which is great for anyone with light to medium skin. I like to use it on the top of my cheek bones, across my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, on my cupids bow and on my chin. highlighting like this really illuminates the face and gives it more dimension.

I personally like their packaging for this product and I think it makes the product look very appealing. The powder comes with a brush and a mirror. The brush isn't very good and the bristles fall out so I found it pretty useless but I feel that the mirror is very substantial and useful.

Overall I feel that this is a great option for a drugstore highlighter and is much better than some "high end" highlighters that are considerably more expensive! I hope this helps you and please leave comments! I would also appreciate it if you checked out my most recent YouTube video where I gave 4 tips on how to make your eyes look bigger and brighter!

Valentines Gift Ideas For The Woman In Your Life!

Valentines day is coming up and if you are looking for something for the lady in your life, or looking for suggestions to give to your significant other then here are a few tips! While making this list I considered an array of budgets and interests. I began with a few specific gift suggestions and read through to the end for a few general ideas. I think any of these would make a great Valentines Day gift and I hope these are helpful!

1. Red Velvet Cupcake Candle from Bath & Body Works
This is a great valentines gift for anyone that likes sweet scents. The rich scent of red velvet cupcakes is accompanied by a touch of vanilla (for the frosting effect) and I can say that I have considered eating it more than once. Many women love candles and I personally find them very relaxing! This 3 wick candle is long lasting and rings in at $22.50

2. Smashbox Full Exposure Pallet
This new pallet is a great gift for a girl that's into makeup! This pallet is great because it is made up of a wide array of colors in both matte and shimmer shades, it comes with a very good brush AND a mini mascara. The colors in the pallet allow for a lot of versatility, making this a very valuable and useful pallet. It costs $49.00

3. Michael Kors Parker Glitz Watch
This is by far the most expensive item on this list but it is also an amazing gift for someone you are really serious about and have been dating for a while. But this Michael Kors is straight up gorgeous! It is perfect for any special occasion and could be worn in a professional setting so it is extremely versatile and functional. As I said before it is the most expensive gifts on this list at $250.00 but it is high quality.

4. Fossil Sydney Bifold in Navy Blue
This is a really good wallet that could be great for your valentine because it comes in a variety of colors that could match anything. It is not too big and not to small, it is also very practical and is perfect for a variety of personalities! It is $35.00 from Fossil

5. Ralph Lauren Saphari Eau de Parfum
I really recommend getting her a perfume! This one by Ralph Lauren costs $62.00 and is a gorgeous blend of warm floral and citrus tones but it doesn't have to be this one! I seriously recommend going to a beauty counter at a store like Macy's or even going through the perfumes in Target or Bath & Body Works depending on your budget and pick out something YOU would liker her to wear. It is really nice to get a perfume from a loved one because every time you wear it you think of them and you know the person likes that scent! It is a really great gesture but make sure it is a scent she will like too!

Here is a list of some other ideas:
6. Concert tickets
7. A picture frame with your favorite picture of the two of you
8. Don't underestimate the power of flowers and chocolate
9. A scarf
10. Make dinner
11. Skydiving (for adventurous people)
12. Something that reminds you of an inside joke or shared experience
13. Make her a CD of your favorite songs
14. Make a personalized phone case! You could use her favorite instagram photos or your favorite pic.
15. If going out to dinner isn't an option it could be really nice to stay in, watch her favorite movie, toast with some champagne and a quiet evening!

I hope you found these suggestions helpful and that your valentines day is all that you want it to be! Please share this if you found it helpful and comment if you have any questions or suggestions!

Review and Comparison of Covergirl LashBlast Mascaras

I swore that the first thing I would do when I started a blog was do a comparison of the Covergirl LashBlast mascaras because whenever I would go into the makeup aisle I would wonder which to use and which would look best. But now I can review them! I am reviewing the four major LashBlast Mascaras:
Volume, Length, Fusion and Clump Crusher! I tried them all in the shade Very Black and they were all the waterproof/water resistant formula. The price for these mascaras is very reasonable, they are all under $9 depending on where you buy them, so they are very affordable! I hope this helps!

Covergirl LashBlast Volume:
This mascara does exactly what it claims to do, it adds a lot of volume and lengthens your lashes at the same time! I like the formula a lot because there is little to clumping, it is very buildable and it is truly waterproof! Because it is actually waterproof it doesn't wash off with your average facial cleanser so I recommend finding a good eye makeup remover that can break down the mascara. But overall it does all it says it does and makes your lashes look great!

Covergirl LashBlast Length:
This mascara is a great lengthening mascara and does hold up! This mascara lengthens you lashes quite a bit but there is no volume, the length is very comparable to the volume formula. The waterproof version holds amazingly and won't rub off throughout the day and it is not too sticky. If you like a more natural look or don't want to go all out this could be the mascara for you! This would be a really good look for the office or school!

Covergirl LashBlast Fusion:
This mascara was meant to be a "fusion" of the volume and length formulas and to be honest I am not sure it was successful. The Fusion mascara doesn't add any more length or volume to your lashes than the Volume formula. You can achieve very similar results to the Volume mascara while using the Fusion but they will not be better. I found that it was much harder to apply because the formula is very sticky and clumpy. It did hold up its end of the bargain with being waterproof so that is one thing it did well! Ultimately I would skip this one.

Covergirl LashBlast Clump Crusher:
The LashBlast Clump Crusher is a newcomer to the LashBlast family but last is certainly not least in this family. The Clump Crusher claims to be volumizing and never clump and it does exactly what it claims! The formula volumizes and lengthens in similar ways to the Volume formula and it has not clumped once! It is also extremely buildable and lasts all day. My one and only complaint is that they don't have a waterproof formula, they only have water resistant. Now I know this may seem very pick to some but I am a college student and it rains a lot so if I am out around campus without an umbrella I can't have my mascara running now can I? But it is water resistant so if there is a light mist or your face gets temporarily wet it will probably stay. Overall I think this is a really good mascara.

The Verdict:
I honestly think all of these mascaras are very solid choices and they can all make your lashes look fabulous! The Volume mascara is my personal favorite out of this line because I feel it makes my lashes look amazing and full, and I wouldn't have it any other way. The Length mascara is great if you want to look natural, casual and professional and really does lengthen your lashes. The Fusion mascara for me is a pass because I don't feel that it does anything more than the Volume version and if anything it is a little more difficult. As for the Clump Crusher, it has wiggled its way into my heart and it is a really great option. I honestly use the Volume or the Clump Crusher for daily use and special events because they hold up like no other.

So now you know my opinion on the Covergirl LashBlast Mascaras and I hope it helped you! I am new to blogging so please leave comments! And I would also really appreciate it if you went and checked out my most recent YouTube video where I do a pink eye makeup and lip look all with drugstore products
